My One Resolution

Yep, I'm going there. I'm doing a New Year's post. I actually hesitated to write a post like this because I know social media is going to be full of these types of posts already. Everyone is going to want to pay off debt, save some money, travel more, workout more, eat better, etc. And some of those are on my list, too, but as I was sitting here with my son I realized that I have a much bigger resolution for 2018. So what is it? To let my children be children. This probably sounds odd. If you know me, you know that I love to let my children play and explore. They do many things on their own already, but I needed a quick reminder that they are still children and still need mom and dad to set good examples for them as well. A couple weeks ago, my son and I were grocery shopping. He picked up a toy and I told him to put it back because it wasn't on the list. To The Mom Who Doesn't Have It All Together

To the mom that doesn't have it all together, Here's a secret: NONE OF US DO! (and yes, I'm yelling because it is important) Yep, I said it. We all have our shortcomings and none of us truly have it all together. Unfortunately, I feel social media has helped spread this lie that you, as a mother, have to have it all together. Go ahead and take a look through your news feed. How many happy pictures or statuses do you see? How many do you see that aren't so happy? How many perfectly decorated and clean houses do you see? And how many pictures are there of a sink full of dirty dishes and toys thrown all around the house? I'm going to guess that your answers went something like this: lots, none, some, none. You know why this is? Because we want to put our best reality out there when it comes to Facebook and other Social Media platforms. And this isn't a terrible thing.
