Whole30 Weekly Wrap

Week 1 of Whole30 is done! Okay, just kidding I still have 3 more days left, but I want to make this weekly wrap a habit so here it is!

So, let's talk about the Whole30 really fast, shall we? I actually forgot how much I hate the first few days. In fact, I hate it so much that my first day wasn't really until the 2nd. We wound up taking a small trip to go see a bunch of airplanes and of course the café there didn't have anything I could eat and stick to Whole30. So I ate as healthy as I could and limited my soda intake to a few drinks. Dinner was awesome because I was able to get chicken, green beans and watermelon! And it was amazing.

Day two, we were back home and I made one of my favorite recipes: Sweet and Spicy Chicken and Macaroni and Cheese. Okay, the boys had Mac and Cheese and I had a salad. I also didn't add any sugar on to my chicken so that I could stay Whole30 compliant. It was still just as amazing so if you are looking for a quick yummy meal, this is it! We then had Cabbage Casserole for dinner with a few modifications so that it could be compliant. I loved it, but the boys would have loved something else. Baby girl eats any food that it is put in front of her so she didn't really mind dinner too much.

Day three, we had a late breakfast, or brunch if you prefer to call it that. I whipped up this Breakfast Casserole, which I have decided I will try again after Whole30 with some cheese. Even with jalapenos on top of mine, I just didn't feel like there was enough flavor. Since we had a late breakfast, we didn't really eat lunch, but just snacked. The kiddos and the husband snacked on Cheesecake while I found the goodness that is LaraBars. I might have a new addiction and the best thing is they are perfectly okay for Whole30! For dinner, we had this amazing chicken: Garlic Ginger Chicken with some steamed veggies. It's one of my go-to meals anyway so I just swapped out the soy sauce with Liquid Aminos (I actually like the taste better) and omitted the brown sugar (super sad about that). I also wasn't able to make the gravy since I didn't have anything to thicken it with that would have been Whole30 compliant.

Today was day four and it was grocery shopping day. I actually wound up sleeping in this morning so we had another late breakfast. It was homemade McMuffins for everyone, but me. I had some bacon and some eggs and was happy with that (although the cheese and English Muffin did look amazing). I downed another LaraBar as a snack (told you I'm addicted) and made this Tandoori Chicken with the leftover chicken from last night. Apparently, I need to tone down the spice a bit if I make this again for the whole family, but I liked it. I served this with some cauliflower rice. Haven't had cauliflower rice yet? I suggest eating it with something that has a good sauce so you can mask the taste really well. My husband hates cauliflower and actually was okay with the "rice". It may have been the yummy coconut oil it was cooked in.

Okay, enough about food, let's talk about  how I feel on the Whole30 so far. I have hit the point where my energy is tanking. I knew that this would happen since I cut out my caffeine source (sodas) and am not eating any bread or other bad carbs. I know that the energy will come back, but I would be lying if I said that my workouts and everything have stayed the same. In fact, tonight I had planned on doing one real workout and then my stretch workout. I wound up only doing the stretch workout and still worked up a sweat.

I'd also be lying if I said that I am excited about the rest of this journey. I am excited for the results, especially feeling amazing after finishing, but I know the next four weeks are going to be hard!

I'll post each week on Sunday so if you are curious how the week went or want some recipe inspiration, feel free to check in! And if you don't care about the Whole30 journey I'm on, I've been nice enough to title the post with Whole30 so you can skip it if you want; my feelings won't be hurt.

I hope you all have an amazing week and make sure to do something fun for yourself this week!

In Debt, One Size Does Not Fit All

We've all heard the saying that some things are just not "one size fits all." Lately, I have come to realize that debt is one of those things. I have been wanting to blog about debt and debt repayment for a while, but I really had to get myself into the mindset that I am going to tackle our debt once and for all before I could do that. But that doesn't mean that I can't give you a couple pieces of advice while I am in my own debt repayment journey, right? Yep, I just felt some eye rolls for that question; it's okay. Here are a couple things that I have realized along our debt journey: 1) We don't all handle money the same way. There are multiple financial advisers and programs out there that advocate only using cash. If you are like me, cash is not a good thing. I know that these programs advocated splitting the cash up into envelopes and only using what is there, but I prefer a more fluid budget. Cash is just a terrible idea for me because when I...

One Thing We Need To Stop

Two posts in one day? Yep, you are super lucky. This one is getting typed up super fast because of something I keep seeing all over social media: Belly Shaming. Every. Single. Day. I see posts in a group I am in where moms are asking how far along they look just based on their bellies. Guess what? No two people will look exactly a like while they are pregnant. My 21 week belly might be equal to your 9 week or 39 week belly. And guess what? That's quite alright! I wish I could say that it only happens in mom's groups or even on social media for that matter. Sadly, that's not the case. I have heard so many stories of women being asked how far along they are. The worst part? Sometimes they aren't even pregnant. And that is no one's business! Seriously, if it isn't your belly, you probably don't have a reason to comment on it's size. We don't just walk up to someone in the store and comment about how big their ears or noses are so why is it okay...

The Dreaded F Word

Wait, wait, wait. Not that word. Stop thinking bad things. I'm talking about Fingerlings. Or you can even change that letter to H for Hatchimals. Or any letter for any of the "big" toys this Holiday season. Why am I hating on them so much? Do I think they are stupid toys? No. I think that some children will absolutely love these toys and play with them daily. I also think that there are children that will play with them for 5 minutes and then never want to touch them again. I don't hate the toy themselves; I hate the craze that has come up because of them. Yes, I understand that they are popular because some children already have them and show them off either in person or on YouTube videos. I also understand that all the big stores have made a huge deal about these little toys as well, which only drives up the interest of young children (and even some adults). I especially hate that there are people out there clearing the shelves and selling the toys fo...
