Let me preface this blog by saying I have tried writing it about a gazillion times. And everytime I stop, delete everything and ignore the whole blog for a couple days.
I posted about how I'm changing things in my life. And I'm really excited about that!
But this blog is also going to be changing.
I have been holding back posting blogs about budgets/finances for the most part. I think I've posted two or three in the time I've had this blog.
There are a couple reasons for this.
1. I'm not certified for anything when it comes to finances. I have read a lot of books, a ton of blogs and articles, and really worked through our own debt-free journey over the last few years. It doesn't make me an expert by any means, though.
2. There are tons of blogs/podcasts/websites out there that talk about budgets/finances. So why should I add on to that list that is growing every day (okay, probably more like every hour).
3. I'm still working through our debt-free journey. Yep, I said it. We still have debt. Guess what? It's okay and it will be gone very soon (like in 2 months actually). So why should anyone listen to me about finances, right?
4. People already think that money/finances consume me. Like seriously, I've had people tell me that the only thing I care about is money. While financial freedom is a huge goal of mine and something that I feel passionate about, I can guarantee there is more to me than that. ;)
So with all that being said, I'm going to start posting more about budgeting/finances and what has/hasn't worked for my family. But Danielle, you just laid out why you shouldn't! Yep, and I'm going against all that and saying that I should share what I am passionate about. Because guess what? If you don't want to read about budgeting/finances, you don't have to actually click through and read that blog post.
I'll still post about other things, but I'm not going to stop myself from posting about budgets/finances anymore. I actually hope to start blogging about more about our local area since we have some really awesome attractions (we just need warmer weather and better health to enjoy them all).
Why do I care enough to post about it when there are a million other posts out there already? Because if my post reaches ONE person and helps them become debt-free or helps them build up a large savings, all the posts that no one reads are worth it!
So be prepared for the budget posts because they are coming.
And if you are already on a debt-free/savings-building journey and want somewhere you can share about that without your whole Facebook seeing it, let me know. I started an accountability group a few months ago with a friend and it has really helped me on this journey! :)
